10 Times WWE Cruelly Teased What We Really Wanted

8. Shayna Baszler: Wrecking Machine

For the longest time, it appeared as though a Shayna Baszler wrecking ball run on the main roster was pretty much inevitable.

One glance at her indomitable tenure on the black and gold brand made it crystal clear to anyone with eyes that WWE had a legitimate ass-kicking star on their hands, with the rookie year of fellow former MMA fighter Ronda Rousey already providing something of a blueprint for 'The Queen of Spades' to follow upon her debut.

Things got off to a decent enough start with a dominant runners-up display in the 2020 Royal Rumble match, and not even a brief detour into vampire-ville could extinguish the hype surrounding this distinct new star. Everything seemed to click as Baszler battered the rest of the field inside the Elimination Chamber en route to a Raw Women's title shot against Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 36.

And then she lost. And then she started disappearing from our screens. And then she started tagging with Nia Jax and reading off terrible scripts. Just when it looked like we were about to be gifted with the open goal that is bonafide killer Baszler, WWE did a WWE.
