3. Alberto Del Rio And Paige

When Alberto Del Rio returned to WWE in October 2015 it looked promising for the Mexican native, with him immediately winning the U.S. title from John Cena and being partnered with Zeb Colter. But then WWE’s attention waned and that’s when he was thrown in the forgettable The League of Nations faction and lacklustre angles.

Less than a year after returning Alberto was suspended for 30 days for a wellness violation, along with his fiancée Paige. It only fuelled the negative attention the couple were attracting online for their 15 year age gap and erratic behaviour outside of the ring.

It reached the point where WWE and Alberto had no interest in working with one another. Alberto tweeted in September 2016 ‘My business relationship with @WWE has come to an end in good terms...thanks for the opportunities they gave me. Termine mi relación con WWE’.

This left Paige in a tricky situation, with her reportedly threatening to quit WWE in protest. WWE wanted and needed Paige to stay though, given they were producing the film Fighting with My Family based around her life at the time, which they couldn’t exactly promote if Paige suddenly quit.

Thankfully Paige and Alberto went their separate ways in late 2017.
