10 Times WWE Got The Money In The Bank Winner Wrong

8. CM Punk (2008)

The issue with having duplicates is that one is always favoured more heavily.

John Cena's first Royal Rumble win was better than his second. Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada's third epic was better than their two predecessors. The Big Gold World Heavyweight Championship is better than the current monstrosity masquerading as Seth Rollins' World Heavyweight Championship.

CM Punk's two Money in the Bank victories fall under this category, too. Where his 2009 win, and subsequent cash-in and heel turn on Jeff Hardy were striking performances that displayed Punk as a polished WWE headliner, his first win, in 2008, was premature. Though it boasted one of the stipulation's deftest line-ups, what should've been CM Punk's crowning moment turned into a disaster when he actually cashed in that June. Felling Edge, it was evident that Punk wasn't ready to handle the pressure, so he was written out of the championship before his angelic 2009 stint.

Indisputably the correct winner, Mr Kennedy delivered his second of two back-to-back Money in the Bank marvels. He was the prime candidate to win, given how he was robbed of the briefcase the previous year, and his win would've popped the crowd in a way WWE never realised.
