10 Times WWE Seriously Disrespected Hall Of Famers

10. The Constant Burial Of Jim Ross

WWE

Jim Ross is widely regarded as WWE's best commentator of all time. On top of that, he worked as head of talent relations until 2004, when John Laurinaitis took over the role. Ross worked long weeks in the office as well as calling Raw and pay-per-view broadcasts. He was a company man through and through and an invaluable asset to WWE. But Jim Ross made the mistake of being from the South and taking professional wrestling (and himself) seriously.

Vince didn't like southern accents on commentary as it reminded him too much of old-school pro wrasslin', something he wanted to distance the WWE from. He made JR wear a black cowboy hat, even though Ross hated the idea and felt it was stereotypical. A lot of people backstage, most of all Vince, felt that JR needed to lighten up a bit. The best way to do that? By humiliating him in front of millions of people on global television, of course!

The JR humiliations became a ritual thing on television and Vince and co. made an extra effort whenever they were in JR's home state of Oklahoma. The most notorious of these incidents was when JR was forced to join the Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass Club. The Undertaker turned heel on Ross and, with many of his family and friends in attendance, forced his face into McMahon's exposed backside.

It was an uncomfortable moment that Vince clearly relished as he jumped around the ring celebrating. Ross has also been beaten to a pulp by Steve Austin and Triple H, made to compete in a rap contest, kicked in the balls by Linda McMahon and then there was the infamous 'Dr. Hieney' segment, where Vince performed mock surgery on 'JR' in a segment shot purely for the owner's amusement.

Ross is probably happy working on his BBQ sauce and calling pay-per-views for New Japan (and WCPW), when he thinks about how his former employers treated him during his tenure there.
