Just imagine if WWE had actually followed through with their original plan to have Randy Orton take on Batista for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania XXX.

Fans would have rioted, hearts would have been broken and the two former Evolution members' legacies could have been forever tarnished by the putrid atmosphere which would have been generated on the night.

The WWE Universe wanted to see one man and one man alone on that mega stage at 'Mania XXX and his name was Daniel Bryan.

So, when the Royal Rumble came around in 2014, fans clearly wanted to see Bryan earn an iconic Rumble win and thus find himself in the main event of that year's 'Mania.

WWE didn't share that same vision and instead opted to give Big Dave his second Rumble victory and set up a match which nobody on planet earth wanted to see.

That's when the fans decided to really make their voices heard.

In completely hijacking WWE's programme between Batista and Orton, McMahon had no choice but to book Bryan as the unlikely outsider on the night and gifted him the chance to take on the two in a mega triple threat on the Grandest Stage... if he first knocked off Triple H earlier in the night.

He did and he then went on to beat the odds once more in tapping out Batista in the now-legendary main event to become the new world title holder.

It was never the plan. However, the raucous fans gave McMahon no choice but to book this huge money match and give them the champion they wanted.
