10 Times WWE Wrestlers Botched Their Own Finishers
5. Jeff Hardy On Eric Young
On 26 June 2018 episode of SmackDown, United States Champion
Jeff Hardy cut a bizarre and verbose promo, upside down wearing milky blue
contact lenses, in which he issued an open challenge.
Eric Young, accompanied by his Sanity allies, answered the call. Sanity were still running on their NXT momentum having only debuted on the blue brand the previous month. Hardy was the ideal beloved face for Young to showcase his brutal wrestling style to main roster fans.
Hardy’s high-flying style requires serious precision and pre-match consideration, which makes it even more shocking when he botches. During the match he blew a Twist of Fate spot, one of his long-term finishers.
He grabbed Young loosely by the head and fumbled as he threw
up his signature taunt. Hardy seemed to adjust himself with a tighter grip on
Young’s head, however, when he attempted the cutter, his hands slid down Young’s
face. Hardy hit the mat, leaving a still upright Young to bump against a phantom
shoulder and hurl himself to the mat. Cory Graves tried to cover up the error concluding
that Hardy “got a little of it”.
