Of course, The Hulkster gets a spot on this list, of course, he does. This is Hulk Hogan we’re talking about! The most powerful force in the universe! Nobody steals the spotlight from the Hulkster, brother! Hogan made an entire career out of ensuring the spotlight was on him at all times, to the point where his ability to do so should be, well, celebrated. It’s dog eat dog out there Jack, and the yard is painted yellow and red. Or something like that.

Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior had a surprisingly good match in the main event of WrestleMania VI. Sure, it wasn’t Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle but it was better than it had any right being, and Warrior’s clean win should have done the job in passing the torch and creating a new colourful megastar for Vince McMahon to shill the ever-loving f*ck out of.

Instead, what we got was Hulk Hogan kicking out at 3.0000000001 before dramatically displaying anguish as the Warrior celebrated. It was day one of drama school, and Terry Bollea was floundering. Hogan didn’t want to pass the title but eventually conceded, slinking off to the back like a wounded yellow behemoth. Warrior got his celebration, but the spotlight was Hogan’s.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
