4. Ethan Carter III
In Drew Galloway's defense, at least he was given the opportunity to shine early on in his WWE career. Derrick Bateman had no such luck. He was relegated to NXT purgatory when the program was still a crappy competition show and was never allowed to get above a certain level. Despite showing crazy charisma during his partnership with Daniel Bryan and friendship with Kaitlyn, he was ultimately released from the organization in early 2013. Criticize TNA all you want for being something of a retirement home for former WWE stars, but if there's any one star they've successfully built up in the last two years, it's been Bateman, now known as Ethan Carter III. They've booked him to look like a main event competitor, having him embark on a two year-plus undefeated streak in singles competition in addition to a TNA World Heavyweight Championship reign. As silly as it may sound, he can go only so far in TNA due to being a big fish in a small pond. It's questionable whether WWE would treat him right the second time around, but after seeing what he's capable of in TNA, there's a chance he could amount to super stardom on the grand stage as well. Obviously, he wouldn't have the gimmick of being Dixie Carter's nephew, but what if he was the big payoff to Mr. McMahon's illegitimate son storyline from 2007? I'd be happy to forget that whole debacle with Hornswoggle ever happened...
