8. Chyna's Paralysis
WWE walks a very thin line when they decide to run with fake injury angles, especially if it's serious injuries that they're faking. By doing it, they condition fans to think that any future in-ring injury will be worked. There's a little bit of the boy who cried wolf when it comes to this practice. One of the worst instances of the worked injury came during Chyna's Women's Title defence against Ivory at the 2001 Royal Rumble. After pounding Ivory like a jobber, Chyna hit a handspring back elbow and crumpled to the mat, having apparently injured her neck (she had, in the storyline, come back from a serious neck injury suffered at the hands of the Right to Censor). Jerry Lawler left his announce table to rush to The Ninth Wonder's aide, something he hadn't done since the very real death of Owen Hart. A stretcher was called out and Chyna's tag team partner Billy Gunn came out, too, as Jim Ross did his best solemn voice, even calling it a 'tragedy'. The whole thing was pretty bad. Chyna made her 'triumphant' return at WrestleMania X-Seven and pounded Ivory like a jobber once again to regain her Women's Championship.
