10 UFC Rivals Who Seriously Can’t Stand Each Other
2. Jon Jones And Daniel Cormier
What started out as a cheeky statement soon turned into one of the most personal feuds the UFC has ever seen.
Jon Jones famously stated that he could take down former Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier when the pair first met back in 2010 and DC wasn't too pleased with what he heard.
DC felt as though Jones was being disrespectful and eventually a Light Heavyweight title grudge match was set for UFC 178 after Alexander Gustaffson dropped out due to an injury. Then Jones pulled out and the fight was pushed back to UFC 182 in 2015.
Five years on from Jones' first words to DC, the Olympian shoved the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion in the throat at a press conference before the event and all hell broke loose. This led to a string of deeply personal shots being fired between the two in various interviews, with Jones telling DC that he would 'kill him' and the challenger replying by saying 'let's try that, John'.
Jones won that first encounter and he also conquered DC (who was the Champion at the time) in the rematch at UFC 214. However, the result was overturned to a 'no contest' due to Jones failing a drug test and DC was reinstated as UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.
DC has admitted in 2020 that 'Bones' doping violations 'did really bad damage to my career' and he even went as far as to state, 'Water under the bridge it will never be.'
They may have gone their separate ways, but these two fighters may never see eye-to-eye.
