10 UFC Veterans That Challenge Their Age

7. Roxanne Modafferi

She may only be 37, but Roxanne Modafferi’s career has seen more fights inside the Octagon than most female fighters in the UFC.

Despite being the oldest active flyweight and boasting the most MMA fights in the division, Modafferi has shown no signs of slowing up. After a unanimous decision win over Maycee Barber in January, the Brazilian was fighting again last month, as she continues to fight on a consistent basis.

Having spent her junior year in Tokyo, The Happy Warrior competed in a number of BJJ tournaments and competed in the Smackgirl MMA promotion. It was here where she defeated Jennifer Howe, a fighter considered by most as the greatest female fighter in America at the time. Modafferi made her Strikeforce debut in 2009 and went on to compete at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship, before entering the UFC through The Ultimate Fighter 18.

Currently ranked #7 in the women’s flyweight division, after a defeat to Lauren Murphy on the June 20 Fight Night card, Modafferi will look to rise up the rankings once more, after agreeing to what will be a third fight in 2020.

Modafferi is set to face Andrea Lee on September 12.
