Randy Poffo worked under numerous ring names during his illustrious career, including his birth name, The Spider, and of course, Bonesaw. However, by far the most iconic is 'Macho Man' Randy Savage.

The Hall of Famer's nickname did not come from the Village People hit unsurprisingly, instead Randy's mother saw in Reader's Digest that the term "macho man" was being tipped to become hugely popular in the coming years, and so suggested her son use it.

Wanting to avoid accusations of relying upon his family heritage in the business, Randy sought out a new surname to define his character. When the legend that is Ole Anderson told him that his wrestling style was ferocious and "savage", the world champion had found his moniker.
