10 Unbelievable Wrestling Coincidences

3. The Incredibly Creepy Wikipedia Amendment

It was discovered on June 25, 2007 that Chris Benoit had killed his wife Nancy and son Daniel in their Georgia home.

The most harrowing day we have all spent in our capacity as wrestling fans deep enough into the hobby that we pore over every detail online, provided you didn't have work or education to bother with that day, it's highly likely that you did nothing else except refresh the computer - before the harrowing reveal - in a state of profound shock, bargaining as to what the reality of the situation was. Gas leak? Food poisoning? A deadly home invasion, the horrors of which compelled Chris Benoit to end his own life?

Chris Benoit killed his wife and child. The story was so surreally awful that those seven words still don't feel real in some way. The statistics connected with domestic violence in the United States make it feel mundane, which is staggering, but tragically, no less true.

Someone actually edited Benoit's Wikipedia page several hours before the story broke, with no knowledge of the situation, and claimed that Nancy had died.

It was a sick hoax typical of modern, extremely online life, but somehow, it was all too accurate.
