10 Underrated WWE NXT TakeOver Matches You Need To See
2. Jushin Liger Vs. Tyler Breeze (Brooklyn)
By August 2015, Tyler Breeze had been in NXT for two years, and had been under contract as Mike Dalton for even longer than that. He possessed all the tools necessary to make it to the next level, but despite how many show-stealing matches he would have at these TakeOver specials, he would remain a mainstay in the midcard in NXT.
TakeOver: Brooklyn was no different, though he wasn't up against any average competitor on that evening; he was scheduled to face off with wrestling legend Jushin 'Thunder' Liger, who was set to make his WWE/NXT debut that night. The initial Brooklyn special is widely regarded as the greatest TakeOver to date, and although the top two matches deserved credit in a major way, this entertaining opener deserves a little love, too.
As expected, the match was mostly about Liger and him getting in his signature spots, but Breeze shined throughout the bout as well, even landing a Supermodel Kick on the established veteran at one point. He was a fantastic foil for Liger, and it was the little things that made the match memorable such as Liger stealing Prince Pretty's selfie stick.
Even at 50-years-old, Liger could still very much go in the ring. He has yet to have a return match, mind you, but it was an insanely cool WWE debut for him, nevertheless.
