10 Underutilized Wrestlers In WWE (Who Could Be Stars In AEW)
1. Rusev
What in the hell was the point of bringing back Rusev?
The man's return has ranged from '80's porn 'stache baby daddy to watching his wife film an amateur porno with Bobby Lashley live on television. To say they didn't get this one right is certainly an understatement.
More answers are likely to come as the story develops, but does anybody really care that much? It certainly is a much smaller pool (think kiddie pool versus Olympic) of people than those who were excited to see his return happen before this debacle.
His failed WWE experiment starts similarly to Asuka's, with a 146 day reign with the United States Championship ending simultaneously with his undefeated streak on the main roster in a loss to John Cena. This marked the end of where WWE made sense in booking him.
Rusev Day was one of the most organic moments of fans gravitating towards a wrestler based simply on his great personality. But it grew from an utter lack of direction, and almost was punished for its own success. The League of Nations and then the feud with Shinsuke before and after Rusev Day show that there never was much of a game plan for the big Bulgarian.
Much speculation was made before Rusev's return about him possibly jumping ship to AEW. And after being cucked straight into meme fame, we can all be sure Rusev wishes he debuted on TNT instead.
Let's just hope the reason is that Rusev still hasn't resigned and will eventually become All Elite.
