10 Underutilized Wrestlers In WWE (Who Could Be Stars In AEW)
6. Cesaro
Who doesn't want to see more of Cesaro wrestling? Apparently Vince McMahon is the only one who doesn't see what we do.
A constant candidate for match of the night, Cesaro has put on epic wars with just about everybody he has faced. Yet he never gets to the top of the card. This relegates these epic contests to the middle of a three hour Raw, or on the pre-show to a pay-per-view instead of where they belong. The man deserves a WWE or Universal title run.
After all, you don't win Wrestling Observer Newsletter's "Most Underrated Wrestler" a record four times in a row by accident. Cesaro is very good at the wrestling.
The problem has always been that his style is much more suited for top guy in an independent promotion than it is to be top guy in the WWE. But the wrestling industry is transforming over on Wednesday night.
NXT and AEW both showcase a wrestling-forward presentation, with long, grueling, technically sound matches being the majority and not the minority. But AEW has the edge of heavy ties to Cesaro's former home, Ring Of Honor.
In fact, one of Cesaro's last matches for the promotion was against The Young Bucks back in 2011. There may be no better way to let his career come full circle than joining the "movement" AEW has begun. And with his 20th year in the ring coming on Christmas Eve, December 2020, AEW can at least hope to have this present in store.
