10 Underutilized Wrestlers In WWE (Who Could Be Stars In AEW)

3. Matt Hardy

With Jeff facing legal troubles once again, Matt will be spending his future journeys on his own for the time being. And although Matt changed to Woken, his current WWE run certainly feels broken as it stands now.

You don't know how hard it is to be Matt Hardy.

WWE never seem to have direction for him without Jeff, but Matt tried to defy this with his great run against Bray Wyatt. But then it unfortunately became more of the same. After returning from absence due to his spine fusing into his pelvis (loyalty once again not rewarded in wrestling) the plan was once again to reunite him with Jeff. Once Jeff got injured and began another troubling series of personal issues, that plan was replaced with... well, nothing.

At 45 years old, Matt is clearly nearing the latter years of his in ring career, yet WWE can't be bothered to give him television time. That is especially sad seeing as Matt worked so hard to reinvent himself in TNA, and has really not had a chance to recapture that magic in WWE.

AEW would be a much more receptive partner for the last years of his career. Boasting creative freedom as one of their selling points, we could see a return of the broken gimmick or perhaps something new entirely. The point is, when you have a great mind with legendary status in wrestling like Matt, you let HIM decide. The man of a thousand gimmicks probably has something to entertain us.

And perhaps it leads to something new where Matt can transition to a managerial role or something of the sort. His spine/pelvis will thank him.
