10 Unusual Ways To Get Hired By WWE

9. Offset A Lawsuit (British Bulldog)

An excruciatingly awful year for the Hart Family was made even harder after Davey Boy Smith made a divisive return to WWE just months removed from brother-in-law Owen's accidental death.

Fraying relations between the Harts and WWE following the Montreal Screwjob were torn wide open by Bulldog's August 1999 signing, not least because it reflected a public show of support for the company from at least one prominent corner of the family. Ongoing legal wranglings between the two sides included a Wrongful Death lawsuit filed by 'The King Of Harts' widow Martha that split the family between those loyal to Owen's cause and those keen to keep on Vince McMahon's good side.

Serving as voices for those hoping to lean on WWE's fortunes, Smith and wife Diana crossed an imaginary picket line when Davey Boy redebuted, and the company knew full well how good it looked for them, regardless of how bad he looked upon his return. For Smith himself, it represented yet another sad chapter of another sad story - injured beyond repair after bumping on a gimmicked ring in WCW, his addictions were overwhelming his body on a weekly basis.
