Josh Alexander's most recent X Division Title defence vs. Chris Sabin only confirmed the above headline further. It was a match deserving of the X Division Title, being a remarkable contest between two of the division's all-time greats. It followed a simple story that, when combined with an outstanding display of professional wrestling, makes for a highly enjoyable viewing experience.
A key detail here was that Sabin repeatedly targeted the previously broken neck of Alexander. He started out subtly, utilising a few rest holds to weaken the neck, but as time progressed, his work became more clear. A brilliant spot, whether intentional or not, saw Sabin Superkick Alexander's headgear clean off. It was such a crisp moment that moulded well into the match's arc.
Josh's work, meanwhile, was typical of a great X Division Champion. His technical prowess is unlike any other; a series of German suplexes was a testament to this. Once his headgear was removed, Josh acted upon this. He'll adapt to the situation to improve his work, hence why he wasted no time in ending the match via C4Spike. If he wrestled a considerable amount of time without the protective gear, a repeat incident could have easily occurred.
