10 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jun 24)

2. Blood Orange

Orange Cassidy
AEW

As weird as it looks on paper, the Chris Jericho/Orange Cassidy feud has been a big, big hit so far, and last night saw the duo enter their best chapter yet in Dynamite's main event spot, brawling through Daily's Place after an in-ring confrontation.

Jericho was money on the stick. He said Cassidy was like the old "why did the chicken cross the road?" gag: mildly amusing the first time you hear it, but dumb and annoying thereafter. The more Jericho sees of OC's act, the more it pisses him off, and he called 'Freshly Squeezed' an embarrassment to the business, stating the only reason he'd gotten over was because Cassidy is just like the fans: a lazy slacker who doesn't have what it takes to get to the top.

'Le Champion' promised to kick Cassidy's teeth down his throat if he tried his slow-motion kicks on him at Fyter Fest. This prompted Orange to do the exact thing Jericho warned him against, and a fierce, intense brawl broke out, with OC busted open by a railing before he Superman forearmed Jericho through a table to close, standing tall with claret coating his white t-shirt.

Excellent, excellent stuff. The Orange Cassidy character is evolving before our eyes. While always prone to flipping the switch during his matches, he is nowhere near as dependent on the comes as he used to be. This was another sign of that: it really amped things up ahead of Fyter.
