10 Ways Finn Balor’s Injury Affects WWE
6. United States Championship Picture
Going back to SummerSlam, we were supposed to see a United States
Championship match between Rusev and Roman Reigns. A pre-match brawl prevented
that one from actually getting underway, but even so Roman’s still technically
entitled to his match for the belt.
24 hours later on Raw though, and Roman found himself entering the number one contenders match that’ll take place on next week’s show. So has he suddenly given up on the United States title? Apart from being a massive slap to the face of the belt, this seems a little inconsistent given that Rusev and Reigns’ rivalry was becoming one of the more bitter on WWE programming.
Finn Balor’s injury, and subsequent vacation of the Universal title, means that this feud may miraculously be forgotten about though.
Then again, even if Roman does move on, Rusev lost to Big Cass via count-out on Raw this week, which surely puts the big man in line for a shot at US gold?
Regardless of the eventual outcome, the Universal Championship isn’t the only title on Raw that will be affected by Balor’s injury.
