10 Ways To Make WWE Cool Again

4. Simulated Competition

One thing that's missing from WWE these days is the idea that competition is alive and well - not in the sense of WWE versus WCW or Raw versus SmackDown, but that wrestlers really want to beat their opponents and that winning a match means a lot more than losing it.

Everyone knows that wrestling is predetermined, but everybody also knew it 20 years ago - it didn't mean that people were less interested in seeing the top babyfaces of the era defeat their evil foes or win titles. Today, though, winning a championship doesn't guarantee any sort of long-term success, and any given feud lasts long enough that each wrestler is going to lose a lot along the way.

Even though it's been a while since WWE emphasized wins and losses strongly, The Undertaker's streak remained a holdover from that era - in the late 2000s and early 2010s, his quest to remain undefeated at WrestleMania was a major fan draw for the show. While that particular vibe can't be recaptured anytime soon, a concerted effort to make competition feel real would do a lot for the product.
