10 Ways To Make WWE Smackdown A ‘Must-See’ Show Again
7. Make PPV Go-Home Shows A Big Deal
Currently, the go-home show before a WWE PPV is Raw, a full six days before the PPV. In theory, Smackdown could and should be the big show, airing just two days before a PPV. But Main Event and Smackdown are typically placeholder programs that drift off the momentum from Raw toward the PPV. For example, the main event of the Smackdown right before Money in the Bank was a Roman Reigns-Kane match that ended in a DQ. Reigns defeated IC Champ the Miz right before SummerSlam, where Reigns topped Randy Orton and Miz would lose his title to Dolph Ziggler. Maybe those 12 Smackdowns could be the live airings mentioned earlier. It would give an air of importance and unpredictability, especially if there are stakes involved. Perhaps the Smackdown before Elimination Chamber would be a beat the clock for who enters the chamber match last. Or WWE could have a contest to set a stipulation for an Extreme Rules title match. Or you could have Survivor Series team captains battling for the services of a ringer for their fifth superstar. There are plenty of possibilities, and while not every one would be a home run, it sure would be a DQ between two wrestlers who are participating in an eight-man ladder match.
