Social media is everywhere these days. If it has any form of relevance to modern day living, you better believe it has an Instagram profile.

UFC - never one to let the world pass them by - have used social media to encompass the digital world in a way that no sport before them ever thought was possible.

By using their many Twitter handles to hype up fights and encouraging their fighters to use their online presence to stir up arguments, UFC have brought more eyes to their product and made for some excellent online scrolling.

Even when you put Twitter and Facebook aside (their followers/likes sit at 7.1 million and 23 million, respectively) UFC's YouTube output has been must-see viewing over the last few years. Live streaming press conferences have excited fans and their embedded video blogs have offered a behind the scenes glimpse at the fighters' preparations, leading to more fan investment in the men and women involved.

It's yet another example of how the company have pounced on the zeitgeist and taken advantage of such a valuable modern day tool for promoting their in-cage action.
