10 Ways WrestleMania 36 Will Shape WWE’s Future
6. More Two-Nighters?
News that WrestleMania 36 shall air over two nights came as a huge relief to those weary of the event's overlong, seven-to-eight-hour modern format, though WWE was likely influenced more by the venue change than anything else. Imagine sitting through eight hours with no noise.
So we're getting three-and-quarter hours on Saturday and three on Sunday, with a one-hour Kickoff Show on both nights. That's a lot more manageable. In splitting 'Mania up, WWE should prevent the fatigue and exhaustion that inevitably creeps in with these shows, no matter how good they are (because it's hard to get amped up for Becky Two Belts when you've been in the building for half your waking day and already experienced KofiMania), making 'The Show of Shows' a comparatively easy sell after years of marathons.
Could this be a sign of the future, or is WWE only going down this route because, you know, there's a global health crisis? It's hard to tell, but it's encouraging nonetheless.
Chopping WrestleMania into two nights will satisfy those who've been calling it for years. It'll also allow the promotion to earn two live gates as well. A double-winner, then, though it likely depends on how well-received this year's format is.
