After losing control of the Straight Edge Society, when CM Punk was traded to Raw in October, by December he was the head of a reformed Nexus. The point of reforming the Nexus ultimately was to create the heat to kick-start the feud between Punk and Orton that led into their match at Wrestlemania 28. In 2014 terms the fact that CM Punk, Bray Wyatt, Curtis Axel, Mason Ryan and David Otunga were at one time in the same stable is entertaining, in 2010/2011, that really wasn't very entertaining at all. Insofar as a way for the gaining in cool Punk to remain a devious heel, Punk attempting to force Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater to beat each other with kendo sticks (after Wade Barrett was exiled to Smackdown and leading The Corre) it made sense. But anything that wasn't the Straight Edge Society or CM Punk being in The Miz's main event position in 2011 actually feels in retrospect like a complete waste of time.
