3. CM Punk Didn't Wrestle Colt Cabana For The WWE Championship At An Indy Wrestling Event
OK. On July 23, 2011, CM Punk showed up at an All American Wrestling event in Berwyn, Illinois. It's an absolute shame that Monday Night Raw on July 25, 2011 didn't open with CM Punk wrestling Colt Cabana for the WWE Championship at that event. Punk's "pipebomb" promo involved Punk stating that he'd take the WWE Championship to his one-time home Ring of Honor, where his buddy (and ex-WWE employee) Colt Cabana worked. The idea of Punk saying that he wanted to do something with Colt Cabana "that WWE was too stupid to do" and offer his buddy Cabana a shot at the WWE Championship in front of 200 people in a VFW hall would've been amazing. Currently, WWE's entire talent development gameplan involves plundering independent promotions not-so dissimilar to AAW. Possibly setting up a friendly relationship with the independent ranks in 2011 could've accelerated the wild shift of the landscape in WWE's developmental-to-TV ranks in 2014.
