10 Ways WWE Has Failed Seth Rollins As WWE Champion

2. Authority Alignment Changes

The Authority were responsible for Seth Rollins turning his back on The Shield. The Authority were responsible for Seth Rollins securing the Money in the Bank briefcase. The Authority were responsible for Rollins winning the belt. The Authority were responsible for helping him hold onto it afterwards. There's no doubt that Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and their array of stooges have been instrumental in Rollins' meteoric rise to the top of the WWE mountain. However, the last few months have thrown that all into question because it seems that WWE has no idea whether it wants its figures of power to be babyfaces or heels. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon appear to have been playing an odd game with their chosen champion recently. Despite supporting his role as the future of the company, they have repeatedly booked him into adverse circumstances, such as his baffling double duty at Night of Champions. There was no reason for the heel authority figures of the company to book Rollins in consecutive matches against two future Hall of Famers. On a week by week basis, it seems that WWE makes a different decision as to the alignment of their characters. Considering that so much of Rollins' reign as champion has come gift-wrapped from The Authority, their support for him needs to be unwavering and consistent. At present, the differing positions of the two Authority figureheads are leaving Rollins in an unusual position and one that weakens his stance as champion.
