10 Ways WWE Has Failed Seth Rollins As WWE Champion

7. Part-time Foes

The over-reliance on part-time superstars has been a major issue with WWE over the last few years, with the likes of Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker and Triple H hopping in and out of the ring whenever they see fit (or see a big payday). This has hurt Rollins' title reign on a number of occasions, given that he has so often been forced to defend his belt against performers who only make sparing appearances on weekly television, as was the case with both of Sting and Lesnar. This routine absence of Rollins' opponents on a weekly basis has placed the weight of the feuds on the shoulders of the champion. He has been asked repeatedly to cut lengthy promos without any sort of response from the person he would be facing at the pay-per-view. Given the generally hostile fan reaction to these talky segments, it's perhaps inevitable that the spectacle of Rollins gloating on the microphone has become somewhat tepid. The best wrestling feuds trade off the electricity between two performers at the top of their game, both in the ring and when duelling on the microphone. Deprived of the chance to interact with his opponents other than in the final match itself, Rollins has been unable to deliver the best of himself in his rivalries with part-time foes.
