10 WCW Successes Nobody Talks About

3. Chris Jericho's Promo Time

Chris Jericho is widely regarded as one of the best talkers of a generation - looking at his WWE debut, it was with his mouth that Jericho first endeared himself to the company, and proved he could stand toe-to-toe with the best the promotion had to offer, verbally. Y2J was always a great performer inside the ring, but had it not been for WCW giving him so much time on the microphone, he may have never broke out to become the star he is today. Remember the infamous '1,004 Holds' speech on Nitro? Or how about that time Jericho threw an on-screen tantrum, claiming to be victim of conspiracy after losing the Cruiserweight Title? It's ironic that Jericho left WCW to seek better opportunities, because even though the company never pushed him as a top star, he was able to hone his skills on the mic, and prove he was more than just a solid wrestler. Upon moving over to WWE, Jericho would take that skill set further, developing more of a main event style in-ring along the way, and the rest is history. It's unlikely the guy would have been a World Champion in WCW, and he couldn't wait to leave the promotion, but he should be thankful that he was able to do his own thing on the mic, and prepare himself for what was to come.
