10 Weirdest AEW Main Events Ever

6. Chris Jericho & Jake Hager vs Luther & Serpentico - Dynamite October 7th 2020

In 2020, Chris Jericho celebrated 30 years in the professional wrestling business. How did he mark this impressive career milestone? By having a tag team match with a bunch of jobbers, of course!

Rumour has it that AEW wanted to get Lance Storm in to face Y2J, which would have neatly mirrored his first ever match all those years earlier. Storm clearly wasn't interested, as they pivoted to the only other guy on the roster with a tangential connection to Jericho's early days.

Luther had had a handful of matches with a young Jericho in Canada, but their paths hadn't crossed since 1993. Also, there had been no mention of their "shared past" on TV until about five minutes before this match, which also involved Jake Hager teaming with Jericho and Serpentico partnering Luther.

The Inner Circle members won a completely nothing match, one that only went on last because the whole episode had been themed around Jericho's anniversary. To think that this was the same show that saw Cody face Brodie Lee in an epic Dog Collar match - the last of Lee's career - is a complete mind-F.
