8. The Devil Make Up
Though fans spent a number of weeks excited at the prospect of a Hell in a Cell match between CM Punk and John Cena, the world was instead mistreated to a Punk/ Ryback match. This wasn't the only strange thing surrounding the event.
In an arbitrary build up to the match, we had a video package involving CM Punk made up to look like a mischievous devil, horns and all. It wasn't a photo shopped poster job like the more recent Hell in a Cell events. The make up was real.
It's not to say that Punk didn't do a good job performing in these prosthetics. Cackling like a minion of hell was kind of a nice metaphor for his character. Yet at the same time, his entire in-ring gimmick was based around his discontent with the company and its fanbase. So in a fit of rage, he rocked up to the resident make up artist to make look like a devil for a fleeting video package? Kayfabe collapsed somewhat.
One is safe to suspect that he at least had a bit of fun with this one.
