Although there was plenty of hype around Aspen Ladd following a number of dominant displays inside the Octagon, her momentum has been briefly halted after she suffered her first loss to experienced Muay Thai specialist Germaine de Randamie back in July of this year.
However, at 24-years old, you'd be a fool to suddenly doubt that she's a good fighter now. She still has frightening ground and pound and a tenacious approach that makes her a nightmare for most fighters. She now has the opportunity to prove the naysayers wrong by taking on wily veteran Yana Kunitskaya.
Accepting this fight with Kunitskaya is bold move from Ladd's team as this definitely isn't a warm-up bout. The 30-year old Russian has been competing in MMA for a decade, is a good striker and is tough as nails. It'll be interesting to see what Ladd has learned from her loss and if she'll be able to implement those changes against another solid opponent.
