10 Worst "Big Reveals" In Wrestling History
1. The Gobbledy Gooker
Beginning in the spring of 1990, a giant egg began appearing on the stage at WWF events. In the months that followed, fans speculated about what possibly could be inside the egg; could it be a new superstar? A returning superstar? What could this big surprise be?! Well, fans got their answer at that year's Survivor Series when the egg finally hatched to reveal...the Gobbledy Gooker.
That's right - this egg, which fans had been curious about for months, ended up being used to debut a wrestling f***ing turkey.
This was so absolutely brain-dead that even fans of cartoony, 1990 WWF booed the ever-loving s**t out of it. As the Gooker gobbled and danced around the ring, the cacophony of boos and jeers only grew more vociferous. The audience at home clearly did not respond well to the feigned enthusiasm of commentators Gorilla Monsoon and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, as Gooker only appeared of WWF television a handful of times after this.
Reception to the gimmick was so nuclear that the man beneath the feathers, Hector Guerrero, was fired from the company just a month later. But he wasn't just fired; they ghosted him. They stopped paying him, they stopped calling him, they literally wanted nothing to do with the Gooker any longer.
And rightfully so, because this was really, really, *really* dumb.
