10 Worst AEW Booking Decisions
4. Andrade’s Debut
There were many wrestlers from WWE's mass releases throughout the pandemic that were considered as being wasted by the company and Andrade is definitely one of the most prominent on that list. Everything about the Mexican screams superstar but he has somehow never been pushed to the top as the main guy of a major North American promotion
His time in NXT is as close as fans got to seeing Andrade's talents being used to the fullest, with his match against Jonny Gargano being considered by many as one of the greatest in the company's history. Once he transitioned onto WWE's main roster he was never given the opportunity to compete at the top of the card despite an excellent feud against the legendary Rey Mysterio setting him up for such a push.
When 'El Idolo' turned up in AEW in the summer of 2021 he seemed destined to be a future world champion within the promotion that valued work rate and charisma, both of which Andrade has in spades. However, his presentation was completely muddled and the affiliation with the Guerrero family was ineffective, immediately type-casting Andrade as a midcard guy. His series of matches against PAC went someway to helping him recover his momentum but AEW have never really capitalised on his talents.
