10 Worst Booked Dream Matches

3. Chris Jericho Vs Triple H (WrestleMania X8)

AEW Full Gear 2020
WWE

It shines a light on just how badly booked this was that there needs to be a certain justification behind labelling it as a "dream match" in the first place.

Insane as it may seem when rewatching from the build to the final bell, Chris Jericho Vs Triple H could and should have been the perfect final curtain for an era disappearing from view. The pair had two incredible wars in 2000, and when 'The Game' returned from his first devastating quadricep injury and won the 2002 Royal Rumble, the pieces seemed to be falling nicely into place.

Jericho and Stephanie McMahon's tremendous chemistry as rivals could be translated into a romantic tryst at Hunter's expense, with the returning hero taking his revenge as he took 'Y2J's titles on 'The Grandest Stage'. Only the last bit went as planned.

As the bulk of the fanbase came to the realisation that the Challenger's best in-ring days were sadly behind him, the Champion was only afforded a professional relationship with his opponent's ex. Trapped in the middle of an on-screen divorce, his role as a literal dog walker (and sh*t-picker-upper) for the McMahon-Helmsleys made for one of the most dispiriting WrestleMania setups in company history.
