10 Worst Booked WWE Champions Of 2020

1. Asuka (WWE RAW Women's Championship)

If there's ever been a sign that the roomful of monkeys that is WWE Creative needs culling, it's that they've managed to screw up the title reign of one of 2020's most over performers twice.

Asuka's first stint with the RAW belt started well, with her tearful embrace of Becky Lynch and celebrations with Kairi Sane providing some of the best feel-good moments of the year. Unfortunately, those feelings dissipated whenever Asuka stepped into the ring as her undoubted talent ran up against WWE's maddening booking. Her two matches against Nia Jax were decided by a double count-out and a fast-count, and successive non-title losses against Charlotte made the Empress look every bit the paper champion.

Frankly, the ridiculous manner in which Asuka lost the belt to Sasha was only fitting given how WWE had contrived to make her look like a joke at every turn during her reign. (Yes, we know she eventually beat Charlotte but the moment was spoiled by the commentary repeatedly hammering home that Charlotte was carrying an injury. Can't have people thinking your babyface champion can win in a fair fight, right Vince?)

Asuka's strong SummerSlam performance made it look like she'd turned a corner, but since winning the belt she's been lost in the shuffle. Left off two of the past four PPVs and without a credible challenger to sink her teeth into, the RAW Women's Champion has taken a back seat to the feud between Nia "No Vax" Jax and Lana, of all people. It is beyond frustrating that WWE keeps shining the spotlight on two of its lesser talents when Asuka and Shayna Baszler have been sharing the ring together during this interminable story, and hopefully WWE salvage something from this mess and give Asuka's reign the feud it deserves with a brutal, epic war against the Queen of Spades.

*Sigh*. Who are we kidding? Get ready for Lana vs. Nia Jax at WrestleMania 37, folks!
