10 Worst Booked WWE Champions Of 2020

5. Apollo Crews (WWE United States Championship)

Back in June, Apollo stated in an interview with TalkSport that his character hadn't exactly connected with the fans. "There's no reason for them to really like me," was his stunningly honest admission of how poorly he'd been booked during his time in WWE.

Unfortunately, five months and one US Title run later, little has changed.

Apollo's time as US Champion was blighted by his feud with the Hurt Business. Losing to the 47 year old MVP in a non-title match didn't exactly do Apollo any favours, but the most baffling bit of booking was still to come. MVP used this victory to proclaim himself the real champion, and debuted a new design for the United States Championship. After Apollo got his win back (following a Covid-enforced absence), he then chose to keep the belt his nemesis created over the original championship.

This made no sense. Why would you keep the belt your enemy made? Sting didn't keep the nWo spray paint on the WCW title, and Vince McMahon didn't carry on with Steve Austin's smoking skull belt when the latter was dethroned as champion.

Apollo legitimizing MVP's redesign of the belt made him look foolish, and submitting to Bobby Lashley twice in a row to end his feud with the Hurt Business made him look weak. Small wonder Apollo has been lost in the shuffle since then.
