7. Kurt Angle - SummerSlam 2000
Wrestling is a pretty unique sport for a number of reasons, one of which is the fact that matches can, will and do continue when a participant is knocked out. Case in point – SummerSlam 2000.
Much like Steve Austin at the 1998 edition, the main event of the millennial SummerSlam was the site of a legitimate KO. This time, Kurt Angle would the recipient, getting his brains scrabbled at the hands of Triple H’s Pedigree.
The spot itself was a fairly common occurrence in big matches at the time. 'The Cerebral Assassin' would ascend the announce table with his foe in toe and proceed to plant their face into said desk with his finishing manoeuvre.
This night, however, would see the table explode beneath them as Trips attempted to take flight for the move, causing our Angle to be driven, face first, directly into the concrete floor below. After initially being taken to the back, Angle would return to the fold just minutes later to rejoin the action.
The Pittsburgh rookie would rely on his veteran opponents to lead his concussed carcass through the remainder of the match. To the untrained eye, Angle played his part unhindered; however, in reality, his head was firmly in the clouds for the rest of the bout.
