10 Worst Mid-Match Injuries Wrestlers Fought Through

5. Finn Bálor - SummerSlam 2016

It's not every day that WWE introduces a new championship belt to the fray and it's certainly not every day that that title is pushed as the new centrepiece of WWE.

With that in mind, it was a historic occasion when Finn Bálor and Seth Rollins locked horns at SummerSlam 2016 to crown the very first Universal Champion. Unfortunately for Finn, history would be made in a negative way as well.

Despite ultimately being victorious in the bout, Bálor also dislocated his shoulder and severely tore his labrum en route to the title. The injury was the result of a particularly devastating Buckle Bomb, delivered to the guard rail on the outside, and would leave the new champ on the sidelines for seven months.

The newly crowned Universal Champ would have to relinquish his newly won championship the next night, leaving himself and the WWE Universe universally disappointed. It was an agonising blow for the Irishman, who had toiled for years to get to that point.

The fact that Bálor popped his shoulder back in mid-match and wrestled the remainder of the bout with a torn labrum is almost unfathomable, yet the fighting spirit he displayed proved he truly has the makings of a champion.
