10 Worst Mid-Match Injuries Wrestlers Fought Through

3. Brock Lesnar – WrestleMania XIX

Billed at the time as “The Next Big Thing”, Brock Lesnar was amidst one of the most impactful rookie years of all time - the only thing missing was a WrestleMania moment.

In an age before YouTube, rumours that the young powerhouse could fly were widely taken with a pinch of salt and the big man’s fabled aerial agility was hard to believe. Nevertheless, in the closing moments of his WWE Championship main event against Kurt Angle, Brock ascended the turnbuckles for a spectacular Shooting Star Press finale. Sadly for Lesnar, this was one Shooting Star that was destined to crash and burn.

By hesitating for just a split-second, Lesnar would under-rotate on the jump, causing his 295lb frame to come crashing down on his chin. It was a landing that would have killed a lesser man and could quite easily have crippled Brock himself. Luckily, Brock had built up a thick, muscular neck from years of bridging in amateur wrestling and, while his brains were scrambled, he was miraculously relatively unscathed.

Angle, himself suffering from neck issues, immediately took control of the situation and walked his opponent through close of the match. With a reconstructed finish, Lesnar hit an F5 to end the match and make the big title change as planned.
