10 Worst Ways WWE Butchers The English Language
6. "Local Medical Facility"
For some reason, WWE superstars never go to the ''hospital'', no matter how badly they are hurt. Roman Reigns is in an ambulance that gets tipped? Off to a local medical centre. Rey loses an eye? No biggie, there's a nearby medical facility that will put it back in.
A hospital is not a cheery place. People are there because they are sick or injured or dying. There are full waiting rooms, people are emotional, and the atmosphere is often grim. Anyone can go to a hospital. ''Local medical facility'', on the other hand, paints of picture of clean, white, sparkling efficiency where the injured Superstar is whisked immediately in front of the best doctors and surgeons available, supported by a whole trauma team and 'round-the-clock care. It sounds dramatic. It makes for good TV.
If you stop to think about it long enough, it's actually pretty insulting. Vince is subconsciously saying, ''you members of the hoi polloi have to go to a hospital if you trip and fall leaving the show after dropping a ton of cash. My Superstars will be getting superior care at a local medical facility. Tough s**t for you.''
Subtle, but it's there.
