10 Worst Ways WWE Butchers The English Language

3. "On Sale"

Regular WWE merchandise doesn't go on sale.

See, when retail outlets have sales, it's because they're struggling to sell merchandise. That simply does not happen at shop.wwe.com, oh no.

When merchandise needs to move from WWE's online store, there are several little psychological tricks that get played to push it without the tawdry idea of it going ''On Sale.'' Sales are for southern wrasslin' promotions who have to give away 1 free shirt with each one someone buys. Even though WWE does the exact same thing, just dressed up. How often are we subjected to ''Tonight Only'' commercials during PPVs, where if you buy one shirt or replica belt you get an opportunity to get another one for 50% savings or the second one for $1.00.

There are no ''sales'', but we're happy to offer you ''savings!''

Or the commentators make it a point to say a new shirt is ''Now Available in the WWE Shop'', making it sound like you have to get it NOW, before the stock runs out and you look like a buffoon. In fact, the only area of the WWE Shop where you find the word ''Sale' is in the Clearance section, so go get your 'GronkMania' shirt, you rube.
