10 Worst Ways WWE Butchers The English Language

2. "I", "He", "She", "They" And Other Pronouns

The use of pronouns is HATED by Vince McMahon. "Pronouns, pal!" has become somewhat of a wrestling meme/in-joke, but it is grounded in legitimacy. Vince. Hates. Pronouns.

It is this quirk perhaps more than any other that makes the commentators sound like pre-programmed Terminators who absolutely will not stop - saying a wrestler's name 300 times during a match. It's so contrived and unnatural that it actually takes the viewer out of the moment because you're too damn distracted hearing Michael Cole say ''Seth Rollins'' over and over.

Or, even worse, 'Monday Night Messiah.'

Vince likes to know specifically who is being referred to, not generalizations. In his mind, his Superstars have individual, unique personas that are painstakingly created and groomed, and those names and personas need to be driven home. Which makes for some tremendously tortured English. He, she, they, I; think how many times a day you use them in conversation?

Imagine slipping up on commentary and saying ''he really nailed that Shooting Star press'' and having Vince scream in your ear because you acted like a human for a moment.
