10 Worst WWE Champions Of Each Of The Past 10 Years

2. Triple H (2009)

Originally, Batista was the man filling this slot. His two-day reign as WWE Champion was ended by a bicep injury though, and that means there's nothing he could have done to save it. Triple H, on the other hand, bombed as lead babyface earlier that year.

Helped by some admittedly intense build (during which Randy Orton came into his own as a heel) that included the McMahon family coming together, the Triple vs. Orton title headliner at WrestleMania XXV should have been gripping. It wasn't, and the combination of slow pace and a nonsensical disqualification stipulation hampered it terribly.

Less than a full month after vanquishing Randy one-on-one, Trips lost the title to him in a six-man tag match at Backlash.

In effect, the reign that should have ruled 2009 because it was a babyface story fans yearned to see ended up being set up for an Orton vs. Batista rivalry that, when doomed due to Batista's injury, in turn gave way to another chapter in Randy vs. John Cena.
