10 Worst WWE Draft Selections Ever
1. Pick 4, 2007 (ECW): Chris Benoit
We're going to somehow steer through this and offend as few people as possible. It has been long enough after the incident that we can talk about it without getting our panties in a bunch, right?
As far as draft selections go, it doesn't get any more catastrophic than Chris Benoit for relatively obvious reasons. Yes, it's still a very sad and sensitive topic nine years later, and of course the tragedy was much more important than its influence on professional wrestling and a draft lottery.
However, it can't be denied that randomly drafting a man who would commit double-murder and suicide under two weeks later is a massive slice of bad luck on ECW's behalf.
Drafted to ECW with the brand's second selection on 11 June, Benoit made only two appearances on ECW - one of which was a victory in a match to determine who would compete for the vacated ECW World Championship.
On 22 June, Benoit murdered his wife and son and took his own life two days later.
