5. The Hurt Business Vs Apollo Crews

It should not be expected of any wrestling fan to invest in a story that only has one chapter. Especially if they're made to read that one chapter every week (sometimes more than once) with barely even a tease of moving to the next one.

This was the story, lol, of Apollo Crews' rivalry with The Hurt Business.

Like a lot of contemporary WWE, there are moments of magic from specific workers peppered throughout the matches and promos that provide bad faith actors the opportunity to drop in a "but what about..." or "well actually..." defence, so let's acknowledge those first. Crews has this weird explosive quality about once every ten matches, MVP is a superlative speaker, and all of The Hurt Business are dripping in enough honed skill to ensure the matches are sometimes better than just sound.

None of the above justifies them going at it almost every week since April. Remember April? The world was totally goosed but Apollo Crews got by MVP in a Money In The Bank qualifier so that was nice. Not so nice when different combinations of Crews and Porter's new stable fought 15 weeks out of the next 20, was it?!

Did anybody learn or grow? Nah, Cedric Alexander got tired of getting beatings helping Apollo and joined the group. Crews lost his United States title and never won it back, then got drafted to SmackDown. Asking for a payoff was greedy - there'd never been anything we'd wanted to buy.
