10 Worst WWE Moments Of 2007

5. The Mr. Kennedy MITB Saga

....Kennedy!

Loudmouthed heel Mr. Kennedy won Money In The Bank at WrestleMania 23 and looked set to cash in then become a World Champ/main eventer. He got injured at the worst time though, so WWE had Edge beat him for the briefcase. Then, everyone learned that Kennedy’s injury actually wasn’t as bad as first feared, so he wouldn’t be benched as long as WWE thought. Oops!

So, what did they do? Correct his push and go all in? Not really. Kennedy hung around the Intercontinental Title picture for a while before being suspended for violating the Wellness Policy. He was caught up in a much-publicised pharmacy scandal that bagged WWE a ton of negative PR when they didn't need anymore of that. You probs know what's being referred to there, but the whole Chris Benoit thing will be examined later.

The worst thing about all of this for Kennedy was that his main event push went up in smoke, and a planned reveal as Vince McMahon’s son went flying out the nearest window too. It was a crappy time for the guy. He went from potentially becoming World Heavyweight Champion and McMahon's on screen kid to sitting on the sidelines watching others get the spotlight.

Fans lost out too. Not only would Kennedy as champ have been a riot, but the replacement for him as McMahon's kayfabe son was crummy and flopped. More on that in a future entry too. A wonky diagnosis wrecked Mr. Kennedy's main event ascent, then his suspension sent his entire company career into a tailspin.

It'd never recover. 2007 was a disaster for him.
