10 Worst WWE Pay-Per-Views Of The Ruthless Aggression Era
7. No Mercy 2004
By the time No Mercy 2004 took place, the SmackDown World Title scene looked extremely different than the year prior. Long gone were the days of classic matches between Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar. The former Bradshaw had transitioned into SmackDown's top heel and had become JBL. JBL had a great character and exceptional promo work. The former Tag Champion went from one half of the APA to being WWE Champion in the space of four months. It was hard for WWE fans to get on board with and take JBL seriously as a legitimate main event talent.
One of the more infamous feuds of JBL's WWE Title run was with The Undertaker. The two would have numerous PPV matches and one of the worst was the main event of the aforementioned show. The two would have a Last Ride match, the purpose of the match would be to put your opponent in the back of a hearse. The match was extremely messy and uninspiring.
The rest of the match card prominently featured matches you would find on a random episode on SmackDown, just presented on a PPV card. Matches such as Spike Dudley vs Nunzio, Eddie Guerrero vs Luther Reigns and Paul London vs Billy Gunn all made fans question the existence of the PPV event.
