10 Worst WWE Royal Rumble Final Twos EVER

7. Alberto Del Rio & Santino Marella - 2011

40 men in a Royal Rumble is too many men. It was too long with not all that many memorable moments or big stars capable of winning the thing.

This is the first (and not the last) Rumble where the winner technically won twice. Alberto Del Rio was the latest participant at the time to win the Rumble, entering the match at number 38 and eliminating Randy Orton for the victory... or so he thought! Del Rio celebrated in the ring, his music played and Ricardo Rodriguez was screaming himself a hernia at ringside. Then appearing out of nowhere came perennial mid-carder and comedy act, Santino Marella.

Santino was never going to win the Rumble, not over a man once considered the heir-apparent to Rey Mysterio as the biggest Mexican star in the company. For a brief moment though, it looked like it might have happened. This was WWE in early-2011 after all, and if you remember that period of time, it was very bad indeed. The Italian Stallion struck Del Rio with the Cobra, soaked in the roar of the crowd before attempting to throw the Mexican Aristocrat out of the ring. A quick counter though put paid to that though and Alberto officially won the match.

Marella was another man facing against a bigger star who had no chance of winning. However, given what has come out about Alberto Del Rio in recent years, maybe he should have.
